Working with a back of house business in the healthcare sector that managed a lot of information for their clients’ businesses, and the details of their client’s clients. This generated a tremendous pool of information that was left untouched. It was clear that there was value about how the nature of their transactions, but they lacked the knowledge in house to make use of it.

The question was how do we look at the information we already have to gain new insights? After spending time with them and gaining an understanding of their client’s needs, and exploring the current data structures we created visuals to highlight important information about their performance. This allowed the clients to properly bill the procedures that brought in the most revenue, and navigate the insurance system to reduce instances of having to submit multiple claims for the same service.

Creating the visualizations, however, was not enough. To be a long term resource we taught the managers how to replicate the process from scrubbing the data to generating a visual tool for their clients.  Creating a manual which allowed the team to sell the new visualizations as a product.
